The 11th annual Madera Pomegranate, Fruit and Nut Festival took place, Saturday, November 5, from 10:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. at the Madera District Fairgrounds. Admission and parking are free at the vibrant festival showcasing Madera County’s locally-grown commodities of pomegranates, fruits, and nuts.
The unique happening features a day filled with delicious pomegranate products, specialties from local nut vendors, music, and the always popular, chef-led, cooking demonstrations. To learn more about all things pomegranate, discover educational seminars on harvesting arils and juices. Then get in on the whole-family fun by showing off your skills at the seeding competition.
Festival highlights for attendees to enjoy include pomegranate-and-nut-inspired foods, products, cooking demonstrations, Kids’ Zone – with inflatable fun, games, and pony rides, Classic Car Show, Live music by Jaded, more than 90 vendors of arts, crafts, and so much more!
Bernard Berrian, will be joining us on the field at the festival. Berrian is a former NFL wide receiver who was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Bernard also played for the Minnesota Vikings. He played college football at Fresno. During the early half of the 2006 Chicago Bears season, Berrian emerged as one of the Bears’s most productive receivers and sharpest deep-threat weapons. Berrian finished the regular season as the Bears’ second leading wide receiver, only a few catches behind team leader Muhsin Muhammad. Berrian played in Super Bowl XLI against the Indianapolis Colts.
On March 1, 2008, Berrian signed a six-year, $42 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings. On November 30, 2008, in a game against the Chicago Bears, Berrian caught a 99-yard touchdown pass from Gus Frerotte, tying an NFL record for the longest pass from scrimmage.

Popular culture fans have something to celebrate as the Ohana Comic Con will return to this year’s festival. Don’t put those Halloween costumes away just yet! A costume contest, for all ages, will be held in the afternoon at 2:30 p.m. on the Main Stage. There will not be an entry fee for this feature.
Muay Thai Boxing is a martial art/combat sport that originated in Thailand. This competition will bring participants of all ages from throughout the region together to complete in this exciting sport. (Admission fee applies.) Event Hosted by Madera Mixed Martial Arts. All-day.
Heart of California Streetwear Expo
The Heart of California Streetwear Expo, also known as HOC, is an event hosted by TheComeupKickz and Valleystealz. In addition to over 100 festival vendors and Comic Con vendors, this addition to the festival you expect to find a variety of streetwear ranging anywhere from shoes, jerseys, vintage, and much more. This event will be taking place inside Lumber Town during the festival and there is no entry fee. HOC aims to provide you with the newest fashions and latest styles of streetwear.
