The Business and Education Committee of the Madera Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2015 Salute to Education Reception and Awards on May 14. Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at the Madera Community College Center to recognize over 75 honorees for their outstanding contributions in the classroom, and to our schools.
Robert Poythress was named as this year’s Honor Roll Recipient. This honor is determined by members of the Chamber’s Business and Education Committee in recognition of significant contributions made to local education over the years. Poythress, Vice President/Manager of Citizens Business Bank, and who also serves as Mayor for the City of Madera, has been displayed great dedication to all levels of education. Not only does he provide monetary donations but he often participates in school activities such as Principal for the Day, Classroom Reading Programs, Teach One to Lead One, Portfolio/Mock Interview Programs, and a long list of other education events. Robert has also been active in numerous committees and movements to with educational leaders to further educational opportunities in Madera.
