Hinds Hospice is relocating to a larger location thanks to community generosity, allowing the store to receive more donations and offer more variety to shoppers. The store opened to the public at its new location on March 5, 2019. However, a formal Grand Opening will take place on Friday, March 22, 2019 with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Featured guests include members of the Madera Chamber of Commerce, Hinds Hospice Founder Nancy Hinds, current Hinds Hospice CEO Eric Klimes and other local dignitaries. “This is a wonderful way to celebrate 25 years of fulfilling our mission to uphold the dignity and ease the suffering of the terminally ill in Madera as well as those who are grieving. We are grateful to the community of Madera for supporting our mission so fully,” said Eric Klimes.

As a nonprofit hospice, Hinds Hospice has been providing clinical care and grief support to Madera County residents since merging with Hospice of Madera County in 1994. The importance of such services was the focus of a generous $1 Million donation to Hinds Hospice from the Red and Nancy Arnold Foundation in 2013. Proceeds from Hinds Hospice’s thrift stores help to defray costs of care not fully reimbursed by health plan reimbursement. This includes services at the Hospice Home and programs of the Center for Grief & Healing.
